Des hunt visits Waikowhai Primary

Today, Des hunt visited Waikowhai Primary School. He taught us about physics and he showed us some of the books he wrote. Des hunt is a popular writer that writes books for kids. The kinds of book he writes are fiction. He came with his wife Lynne. He showed us his backstory it showed us when he was born and where he was born. He was born in the north island. He studied to be a teacher in wellington and moved to Christchurch to become a actual teacher. He showed us how to make a powerful force out of a lighter he took out the parts of the lighter and made some kind of explosive.

My favourite part of the presentation was when he exploded the balloon it exploded and made a loud sore noise. I liked that part because it got bigger and bigger then it was a green explosion. It was important because the balloon that popped was representing an eel it popped because he told us that an eel get's bigger and bigger until it's system can't handle it anymore. It also represented the tension in a book because the tension gets big then you never know when something is going to happen then BAM it strikes.

Now that I have seen this presentation I want to read more of Des Hunts books. I also want to use him to motivate me to write books

Anzac Day

ANZAC DAY

This week we have been learning information, reading books and discussing Anzac Day. ANZAC day is a day when we celebrate Australian and New Zealand soldiers who fought in the war. Our class have been doing different things about Anzac Day like writing acrostic poems and we read storys about the war. We read different storys their was one that was about this village called Le  Quesnoy and the Germans took over but a group of New Zealand soldiers came from across the world and saved the village.  On our first day back from the holidays we had to put the crosses on the grass for the people who died around the Auckland area.
